Macros in the Remote

The Remote since version 1.11.0 gained a new unique functionality – the mechanism for live recording of user actions (commands sent to the Base module). Using this mecha- nism you can easily create a scenario for leaving home, light scenes, a scene for watching a movie, define heating settings, etc. No programming needed, all you need is the Remo- te application. Created macro is saved by the Remote as a list of commands. Calling a macro sends this list of commands to Base module. In the future we plan to extend this functionality by embeding macro commands in a time frame – this will allow to create dy- namic scenes.

The Macros Page

The Macros view is automatically added to the Remote menu structure as the last of main pages. If you don’t want to use the macro recording function, you can disable this view in Remote settings, by disabling the Show macros option. By default, the Macros view is enabled.

Let’s start

To start recording a new macro, click the button in the upper right corner. As the result you’ll see red bar at the top part of the screen, and the will turn into the button – ma- cro recording has started. Now start navigating the menu and/or visualization (yes, macro can include visualization commands too) and use controls to add actions to the created macro. Important note here: you can decide whether the Remote will or won’t send com- mands to Base during macro recording. Use the Send commands to Base during ma- cro recording switch in the Settings view to set this property. This option is enabled by default.

Macro can contain all the actions available in the menu mode and in the visualization, for example changing the brightness of the lighting, arming the alarm, changing the set tem- perature, etc.

Saving Macro

To finish macro recording go to the Macros page and click on the button in the upper right corner. As a result the Remote will display a popup asking you to confirm the deci- sion to finish creating of a macro. Click No to continue recording the macro. If you click the Yes button, another popup will appear. Then enter the name for a macro and press the Save button in order to save it. If you click the Discard changes, the entire macro de- finition will be canceled. As a result of a proper macro definition, Remote adds a new line on the Macro page, which will contain the entered name and a button to call the macro.

Deleting Macro

In order to delete a macro, swipe horizontally from right to left with one finger on the screen (the gesture is identical as for deleting messages in the iOS) – you’ll see Delete button that allow you to delete the macro.

General Rules

  1. You can nest one macro inside another. In case you delete the nested macro later it doesn’t affect the definition of the parent macro, because it contains its own copy of commands list of a nested macro.
  2. Macro definiction must contain at least one action (command) in order to be saved by the Remote.
  3. Saving the Remote or the Display tab in the configurator will cancel macro recording.

We hope you will enjoy this functionality.
